    Hey guys,
I want to know your opinion about DirectAdmin and CPanel.
I personally think that DirectAdmin is more modern and better.

    What’s your opinion?

Also Binil if possible can you support DirectAdmin?

Cpanel has been the standard for quite some time. But other ones like direct admin and plesk have come a long way and they are good.

Not sure that we could have Direct Admin, I don’t think that it would be that easy to move everything to Direct Admin.

Andy, ours is a Cpanel with Litespeed Enterprise hosting – just install litespeed plugin, connect it with quic.cloud cdn and you will get a blazing fast wordpress site.

In January of this year I had a chance to participate in an up to date DirectAdmin shared hosting account. I helped with beta testing it. You can check up on the BETA test reviews here:

    https://post4vps.com/Forum-Reviews

Prior to the test I had used DirectAdmin as a user account with Frihost.com a few years back. Then when I became staff at Frihost a few years later I got myself a shared hosting account with DirectAdmin with a host in Canada. DirectAdmin of course comes from Quebec Canada. At that time there were very few hosts who were using DirectAdmin. But ever since the issue with the high rates cPanel has been charging, DirectAdmin has come out of the shadows and made many improvements to its panel.

When I tested a DirectAdmin shared hosting account in January I was totally surprised how much the panel was looking like cpanel. Almost as though it is trying to copy the same style. I think however it would have to go a very very long way to catch up with the growing technology that cpanel has invested so much in over the years. DirectAdmin is completely OK, more than OK, but for me cpanel is still that much better. Particularly WHM.

I only test and use cpannel. What are the major differences between the 2 @andy any big advantage or extra tools on the DirectAdmin ?

@kreesher For me DiorectAdmin has come a long way since I first got in touch with it as an end user. However it is a long LONG way off from even competing straight with cpanel. The last time I used it I didn’t find it as user friendly. Due to the fact that on an Admin basis for setting DirectAdmin up it can be a hit and miss affair for the Administrator. If there is a choice between DirectAdmin and cPanel, cPanel wins hands down in every respect. Particularly from a user friendly point of view. If one doesn’t have a choice though, and can get DirectAdmin for free, then DirectAdmin is a really great cPanel alternative. For me I’d put it on top of the list together with my favourite VestaCP fork with Debian https://myvestacp.com/

All depends whether you have a budget. If you want a free panel, DirectAdmin is a really good free panel. If you have to pay for it though, then it’s OK’ish. For now any way.

Make sense @genesis and thank you for the detailed explanation.

On my side I prefer a user friendly interface every day. So like you said cpannel offers me that and more.

But I will take a look on your list 🙂

@helix the forum is made for conversations..

Do you have a current favorite between CPanel vs DirectAdmin or why did you choose this thread?

I still think cPanel rocks. I’ve just had experience with it first time in a long time today, and great how easy it makes life.

I mostly work with my own VPS, so for the last few years have been creating my WP sites with Debian. But I still like exposure to cPanel, as it adds lots of learning and keeps one up to date.

I should go back and check up on DirectAdmin again. They have been getting better and better, but must say I haven’t seen much of DirectAdmin lately.
